About Help Generation (HG)
Help Generation (HG) is a non-profit, women-led local Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). Registered with the Authority for Civil Society Organizations (Certificate No. 4459), HG maintains a strong regional presence across Ethiopia, specifically in Tigray, Amhara, Oromia, Central Ethiopia, Afar, and Addis Ababa. Our core thematic focuses on Protection, Education, Livelihood Development, and Humanitarian Emergency Response. Currently, with funding from the
European Union Civil Society Fund (EU CSF+)
, HG is implementing a project in the
Tigray Region
aimed at strengthening local civil society, promoting inclusive governance, and enhancing community-based protection systems. We are currently  our mission in
Alamata
, and we are seeking dedicated employees to join our team in this location.
Job Summary
The Social Worker is responsible for providing survivor-centered Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention and response services under the
EU CSF+
project in
Alamata, Tigray
. Working under the supervision of the GBV coordinator, he/she contributes to community-based prevention activities, supports awareness-raising and behavior change initiatives, and ensures accurate and confidential documentation of cases. The role emphasizes strengthening local community structures and ensuring that vulnerable groups, including women and youth, have access to essential protection services.
III. Duties and Responsibilities
A. Community Engagement and Prevention
Facilitate community dialogues and outreach events in Alamata to promote GBV awareness and social cohesion.
Support local community structures, including women’s groups and youth associations, to strengthen grassroots protection efforts.
Engage with community leaders to promote rights-based approaches and behavior change.
B. Project Implementation Support
Support the implementation of activities according to the
EU CSF+
work plan for the Tigray region.
Assist in organizing workshops and advocacy activities that empower local civil society.
Distribute and utilize awareness materials (IEC) tailored to the local context.
C. Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation
Collect and submit accurate field-level data on activities to the Project coordintor.
Prepare weekly and monthly activity summaries in line with HG reporting requirements.
Document lessons learned and success stories while maintaining strict confidentiality standards.
D. Coordination and Professional Conduct
Coordinate with local service providers and government offices in Alamata.
Participate in local coordination meetings and protection forums.
Uphold organizational safeguarding policies and the code of conduct at all times.
E. Accountability
Supervision:
Reports to the Project Officer (or GBV Prevention and Response Officer).
Data and Information:
Responsible for the confidential handling of all project data.
Assets:
Responsible for the proper care of assigned project materials and equipment.
1. Professional Qualifications
Minimum:
A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Gender Studies, Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology, or related social sciences.
Desirable:
Additional training in GBV case management, psychosocial support, or protection programming.
2. Relevant Experience
Required Skills:
Practical knowledge of survivor-centered approaches and referral mechanisms.
Strong community facilitation and interpersonal skills.
The ability to handle sensitive cases with high confidentiality and professionalism.
Desirable Assets and Language:
Direct experience working with vulnerable women and girls.
Language
Local Languages (Tigrigna and Amharic) is prefered.
3. Length of Experience
Minimal: At least 2–3 years in GBV, protection, social work, or humanitarian/development programming.
Essential:
Two (2) to three (3) years of direct experience with vulnerable populations is considered essential for this role
.
