Position: Logistics Intern

Required Qualifications & Eligibility
To qualify for the internship, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
Education Requirements:
Be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program (e.g., Bachelor’s degree) and have completed at least two years of study. Applicants must have attended classes within the past 12 months. Preferred fields: Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Management, or related.
Be currently enrolled in a graduate (Master’s) program and have attended classes in the past 12 months. Preferred fields: Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Management, or related.
Be a recent graduate (within the last six months) from an accredited undergraduate or graduate program, having attended classes during the last 12 months of enrollment.
Additional Requirements:
Strong command of both spoken and written English and Amharic.
Physically able to travel to and work at the assigned duty station.
Applicants must not be immediate family members of WFP staff (sons, daughters, siblings).
Educational qualifications must be from recognized institutions validated by national or international authorities such as UNESCO or relevant Ministries of Education.
Role Summary
The Logistics (Customs) Intern will assist in customs clearance activities for imported commodities, ensuring compliance with regulations and facilitating timely release of goods. This role provides practical exposure to logistics operations, documentation, coordination with government bodies, C&F agents, and internal departments.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in organizing, reviewing, and preparing shipping documents, import permits, and Ethiopian Customs Declarations (ECDs).
Coordinate with Clearing & Forwarding (C&F) agents to ensure timely document submission.
Track incoming shipments and request regular updates from C&F agents.
Maintain accurate and updated documentation, including filing, archiving, and retrieving final declarations.
Monitor declaration closures and container guarantee follow-ups.
Update shipment trackers and assist in compiling periodic logistics reports.
Reconcile received commodity quantities with customs declaration balances.
Support invoice verification for services rendered by C&F and inspection companies.
Perform additional administrative duties as required.
