Job Summary:
Responsible for delivering high-quality health services to host communities and internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide outpatient and inpatient clinical services, adhering to Ethiopia’s patient management and IMCI guidelines.
- Manage co-infections in malnourished children and ensure timely referrals.
- Oversee pharmacy operations, including stock management and reporting.
- Collaborate on health programs, including maternal and child health and communicable disease management.
- Train healthcare staff and ensure compliance with infection prevention practices.
Qualifications:
- Education: Medical Doctor (MD) or BSc in Health Officer.
- Experience:
- MD: Minimum 2 years of professional experience.

Job Summary:

5. Job Title: Hygiene Promotion Officer

About the Job
The Hygiene Promotion Officer will report directly to the Medical Officer and play a key role in the implementation of hygiene, sanitation, and water supply activities in response to the Cholera outbreak. The position requires using appropriate hygiene promotion approaches in line with required standards and ensuring community participation in the intervention efforts. Additionally, the Hygiene Promotion Officer will be responsible for client selection, verification, community mobilization, and effective resource management within the project framework.
Key Responsibilities
Core Duties:
- Ensure that MTI’s quality standards are met in the implementation of WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) and Cholera outbreak response activities.
- Engage in risk communication and community engagement (RCCE) strategies to support cholera prevention and response efforts.
- Participate in all phases of project planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation related to water, sanitation, and hygiene promotion.
- Select and provide training to Health Workers (HWs), Community Health Workers, and Woreda-level Rapid Response Teams (RRT) in areas affected by the cholera outbreak.
- Facilitate participatory hygiene promotion activities and support social behavioral change communication processes.
- Provide professional support to Environmental Health Agents, School Hygiene Clubs, and sanitation facility attendants for effective cholera prevention and response.
- Coordinate national and global WASH campaigns with partners and refugee structures.
- Develop procurement and spending plans for cholera outbreak response activities, including the initiation of procurement for necessary materials and supplies.
- Participate in WASH needs assessments and provide critical input for response planning.
Quality Management:
- Ensure high-quality programming, particularly in challenging environments such as Tigray, Ethiopia.
- Ensure cholera outbreak response activities are in line with WASH pillar recommendations for outbreak control and prevention.
- Ensure that IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) and BCC (Behavioral Change Communication) materials are culturally appropriate and distributed effectively.
- Maintain respect, dignity, and confidentiality in all services provided, adhering to MTI’s standards.
- Support colleagues and staff in upholding infection control practices to prevent the spread of diseases within health facilities and among staff.
Physical Conditions:
This position involves frequent travel to health facilities in remote areas with basic living conditions.
Qualifications:
Education and Certification:
- Postgraduate or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health Science, Public Health, Nursing, Health Education, or a related field from a recognized university.
Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in environmental health, health, and WASH-related tasks, including at least 2 years of experience in managing WASH operations in health services, including staff supervision.
