Position Overview
The Driver provides safe, reliable, and efficient transport and logistical support to ensure smooth implementation of all project field activities, including staff movement, material transport, and field coordination support.
Key Responsibilities
1. Transportation Services
Provide safe and timely transport for staff, partners, and project materials.
Follow assigned routes and schedules to support field operations.
Ensure punctual and reliable movement across all project sites.
2. Vehicle Maintenance & Management
Conduct daily vehicle checks (fuel, oil, tires, and general condition).
Maintain cleanliness and ensure roadworthiness of the vehicle.
Report maintenance needs and coordinate timely servicing.
3. Safety & Compliance
Follow all traffic laws and organizational driving safety standards.
Ensure safe driving practices at all times.
Report accidents, incidents, or mechanical issues immediately.
4. Logbook & Record Keeping
Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel use, and trips.
Ensure proper documentation of all vehicle movements and activities.
5. Field & Operational Support
Assist with loading and unloading materials and equipment.
Support field teams during outreach and implementation activities.
6. Emergency Response Support
Respond appropriately to breakdowns and emergency situations.
Coordinate with management for timely resolution of transport issues.
Qualification
Minimum Grade 10 completion
3–5 years of professional driving experience
Experience working with NGOs or projects is an advantage
Valid Ethiopian driving license (appropriate category)
Good knowledge of local and regional routes
Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge
Strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and reliability
