Position Overview
The Capacity Development Officer is responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering all alumni learning and capacity-building activities. The role ensures that Animal Health graduates receive high-quality CPD training and practical learning opportunities that strengthen field-level equine welfare services and community impact.
Key Responsibilities
1. Capacity assessment, Training Design & Delivery
Design and develop standardized capacity assessment tools to identify competency gaps.
Conduct comprehensive capacity assessments of Animal Health Assistants (AHAs) and identify field-level resource and skills gaps.
Coordinate and facilitate Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programs, including in-person trainings, field demonstrations, and hybrid learning sessions.
Develop and deliver practical, competency-based training modules aligned with program objectives.
Ensure all training interventions are responsive to field needs, operational priorities, and project goals.
Monitor training effectiveness and adapt approaches based on feedback and performance outcomes.
Closely work with animal welfare officer
Compile, document, and share training reports, insights, and recommendations with the Project Manager.
2. Alumni Engagement & Network Strengthening
Facilitate formation and functionality of regional alumni clusters.
Promote active participation, peer learning, and knowledge sharing.
Strengthen communication and engagement among alumni networks.
3. Entrepreneurship & Skills Development
Support delivery of business and entrepreneurship modules for alumni.
Promote development of private veterinary and animal health enterprises.
Link skills development to livelihood and service delivery improvement.
4. Monitoring, Learning & Documentation
Conduct field verification and training follow-up activities.
Document learning outcomes, best practices, and implementation results.
Support monitoring of training effectiveness and application in the field.
5. Institutional Alignment & Collaboration
Work with Alage faculty and MoLS to align training with national standards.
Ensure competency-based training frameworks are properly applied.
Coordinate with partners to maintain training quality and consistency.
6. Practical Application Support
Support implementation of pilot grants and field-based welfare activities.
Ensure alumni apply learned skills in real community settings.
Qualification
Doctor of Veterinary medicine, Bachelor’s degree in Veterhnary science, Education, Animal Science, Extension, or related field
Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in training, facilitation, extension services, or capacity development programs
Experience working with rural communities, youth, or alumni networks is highly desirable
Experience in NGO or donor-funded projects is an advantage
Strong facilitation and training delivery skills
Ability to design practical and engaging learning programs
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in field settings
Strong organizational and reporting skills
