About the Internship
The WBG Pioneers Internship is designed to give talented students and young professionals an opportunity to contribute to meaningful development initiatives. Interns will collaborate with experienced professionals, strengthen their technical expertise, and gain hands-on exposure to international development work.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants should meet the following qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in, or in the final year of, a Master's or PhD program.
- Have 1–6 years of relevant professional experience.
- Educational background in one of the following fields:
- Urban Planning
- Geography
- Geospatial Analytics
- Data Science
- Remote Sensing
- International Development
- Public Policy
- Disaster Risk Management
- Conflict Studies
- Economics
- Or another related discipline.
- Demonstrated interest in using geospatial technologies to support urban resilience, infrastructure planning, reconstruction, displacement, or conflict-affected communities.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with GIS tools such as QGIS, ArcGIS, Google Earth Engine, Python, R, or similar technologies.
- Ability to work effectively in multicultural and collaborative environments.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Knowledge of Arabic, French, Ukrainian, Amharic, Swahili, or other relevant languages is considered an advantage.
No-Fee Internship Track
This internship is offered under the WBG Pioneers No-Fee Internship Track. Applicants must satisfy one of the following conditions:
- Remain enrolled in a graduate program throughout the internship and provide an official university letter confirming the internship fulfills academic requirements; or
- Receive financial support from their university that meets the required internship funding level, supported by official documentation.
