Job Summary
The Machine Operator will support efficient production by operating and monitoring manufacturing equipment, carrying out routine equipment care, identifying operational problems, and maintaining required safety and quality standards.
The role works closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to maintain production performance, minimize equipment downtime and material waste, and support improvements in manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Safety and Environmental Compliance
Follow workplace safety procedures, company policies, and applicable legislation. Understand hazards associated with the workplace and the assigned production activities. Apply appropriate safety and environmental procedures when handling people, processes, materials, products, and equipment. Support efforts to reduce waste and minimize health, safety, and environmental impacts. Manage waste and hazardous materials according to applicable procedures.
Machine Operation
Carry out pre-start checks to confirm that machinery and the production area are clean and safe before operation. Follow standard operating procedures for machine start-up and shutdown. Operate and monitor production machinery to ensure proper functioning. Adjust machine settings according to production requirements and specifications. Maintain the condition of machines and monitor process parameters on the soap production line.
Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Perform routine machine care activities such as cleaning, inspection, lubrication, and replacement of worn components. Identify and troubleshoot equipment problems promptly to reduce production downtime. Follow preventive maintenance schedules and maintain a proactive approach to equipment care. Apply Autonomous Maintenance activities appropriately.
Quality Control
Conduct regular checks to confirm that products meet established quality requirements. Identify and report product defects or deviations from quality standards. Monitor relevant quality and production parameters.
Production Data and Reporting
Record and monitor relevant production data and performance indicators. Review production information to identify trends, losses, and potential improvement areas. Prepare reports relating to production performance, equipment condition, and maintenance activities.
Teamwork and Continuous Improvement
Work with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to maintain smooth operations. Communicate production targets, operational challenges, and safety concerns effectively. Support the training of new basic operators on equipment operation, safety procedures, and good operating practices. Use performance measures to identify and prioritize production losses. Apply appropriate problem-solving approaches to address issues and help prevent their recurrence. Contribute effectively as a responsible and supportive team member.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have:
A minimum of a Technical College Certificate, Level III or Level IV. At least 3 years of relevant work experience in a related area. Good knowledge of RM, PM, GMP, and MMP. Knowledge of line profiles, process parameters, and production quality parameters. Practical understanding of production processes, procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards. Knowledge of machine components, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance related to finished-goods production. Demonstrated ability to manage MUVs and material waste. Experience working with GMP and standard operating procedures. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics. Understanding and practical implementation of Autonomous Maintenance activities.
Additional Advantage
Knowledge of ManEx, TPM, and UMS will be an advantage.
