PAD is currently seeking qualified and motivated individuals for the following position(s)

Position 8 required 2 for each woreda in the Wag Hamra Zone in Dihana, Tsagbiji, Abergele, and Gazgibla.
Language:
Proficiency in English and the local language(s) of the region is required.

Job Summary:
The Social Worker will provide direct technical support for child protection case management and community-level interventions. The role focuses on providing case management services, facilitating referrals, supporting reunification efforts, and working directly with families and communities to improve the well-being and protection of vulnerable children.
Key Responsibilities
A. A. Case Management and Direct Support
Implement direct child protection case management services, ensuring all children and their families in need receive timely, quality, and confidential support.
Conduct initial assessments, develop case plans, and provide ongoing follow-up and monitoring for children at risk.
Facilitate referrals to specialized services (e.g., health, GBV, mental health, education) and ensure effective coordination with service providers.
Support Family Tracing and Reunification (FTR) for Unaccompanied and Separated Children (UASC), including facilitating the process of reunification and providing appropriate interim care where possible.
Provide accompaniment and support to children and caregivers during referral processes (e.g., for medical, legal, or psychosocial support), covering transport and accommodation costs as per the project plan.
Conduct home-based follow-up visits to monitor the safety, well-being, and progress of children and families.
B. Community and School-Based Interventions
Collaborate with school administrations to strengthen the role of Child Protection Desks and support their functionality.
Work with child-led school clubs, providing mentorship and guidance to support their activities, including peer-to-peer awareness campaigns and community mobilization.
Support the capacity building of Parent-Teacher and Student Associations (PTSAs), and assist them in conducting awareness campaigns, including back-to-school drives.
Participate in community-level awareness campaigns, ensuring that key messages on child protection, risks, and available services are disseminated.
Identify and support the referral of cases through school-based and community-based mechanisms.
C. Coordination and Capacity Building
Collaborate with Protection Officers and the local Women and Social Affairs Offices and other relevant agencies to ensure a coordinated response to child protection cases.
Participate in stakeholder meetings (including case conferences) as required to advocate for the best interests of the child.
Provide support and mentorship to community-based protection structures and volunteers.
D. Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation
Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and confidential case files, ensuring all data is collected and managed in accordance with standard operating procedures and data protection protocols.
Document all case management activities, including assessments, case plans, referrals, and follow-up visits.
Prepare regular reports on caseloads, outcomes, challenges, and community-level observations.
Contribute to the monitoring of child safety and well-being in target schools and communities.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:
Diploma or bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Sociology, Community Development, or a related field.
Experience:
At least 2 years of relevant experience in child protection, social work, or community development. Experience in case management and community-based programming is highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies:
Knowledge & Skills:
Strong understanding of case management, child protection principles, and referral pathways.
Knowledge of Family Tracing and Reunification (FTR) and alternative care procedures.
Excellent communication, interviewing, and active listening skills.
Ability to work with children and families in a sensitive, empathetic, and non-judgmental manner.
Good organizational and report-writing skills.
Fluency in English and the local language (Amharic).
Knowledge of the local context and culture in Waghemra Zone.
Commitment to humanitarian principles and child safeguarding policies.
Ability to travel frequently within the woreda.
Other Considerations:
Willingness to travel frequently to field locations, including remote areas.
