| Purpose of the job |
| The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, effective cash management, and sound financial controls. The role provides leadership to the accounting team and supports management with financial analysis and strategic decision-making. Particular emphasis is placed on managing financial activities related to import and export operations, banking relationships, taxation, and supplier accounts. |
| Key responsibilities |
| – Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. – Ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions in accordance with applicable accounting standards. – Review and reconcile general ledger accounts. – Monitor company profitability, costs, revenues, and cash flow. – Coordinate year-end closing and financial reporting activities. – Monitor and maintain accounting systems and internal controls. – Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing processes. – Manage accounting activities related to coffee export transactions. – Account for import purchases, customs duties, freight charges, and related costs. – Ensure compliance with all tax laws and regulations. – Prepare and review VAT, withholding tax, income tax, and other statutory filings. – Coordinate tax audits and respond to tax authority inquiries. – Coordinate internal and external audits. |
| Job Requirements | |
| Education | – Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. – Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws and financial regulations. – Professional certifications are an advantage. |
| Experience | – Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities. – Experience in import/export, trading, manufacturing, or similar industries preferred. – Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. |
