Positive Action for Development (PAD) is an Ethiopian civil society organization legally registered at the federal level. The organization was initially registered with the Ethiopian Federal Democratic Charities and Societies Agency on June 6, 2011, under registration number 2330. It was later re-registered as a local civil society organization on May 22, 2019, in accordance with Civil Society Organization Proclamation No. 1113/2019.
PAD is currently inviting qualified and experienced professionals to apply for the following positions:
1. Protection Officer
Qualification:
- BA, MA, or MSc in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Law, Gender Studies, International Development, or a related field.
Experience:
- At least 4 years of relevant professional experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with INGOs/NNGOs in the protection sector, particularly in GBV, Child Protection, and/or MHPSS.
Key Requirements:
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Fluency in Afar language is mandatory.
- Experience working in complex or volatile environments, especially in Afar, is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Team leadership and resource-management abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and in insecure environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Kobo Toolbox or similar mobile data-collection tools is an advantage.
- Experience coordinating with woreda/zonal protection offices and implementing partners.
Duty Station: Bidu Woreda, Zone 2
2. WASH Officer
Qualification:
- BSc/MSc in Water Supply, Hydraulic Engineering, Water and Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or another relevant water-related field.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 3 years working with INGOs/NNGOs in the WASH sector.
Candidates should have practical experience in water-supply construction and rehabilitation, solar-powered water systems, sanitation infrastructure, and hygiene-promotion activities, particularly in emergency settings.
Key Requirements:
- Fluency in English and Afaraf/Afarigna.
- Experience in complex and volatile environments.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Team management and leadership abilities.
- Ability to work in insecure environments.
- Resource-management and coordination skills.
Duty Station: Erebti and Bidu Woredas, Zone 2, Afar Region.
3. Case Worker
Qualification:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Nursing, Law, or a related field.
Experience:
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in humanitarian or development programs.
- Experience providing case-management services to GBV survivors, vulnerable children, and/or MHPSS beneficiaries.
Key Requirements:
- Fluency in English and Afar language.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy, active listening, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional ethics.
- Ability to work under pressure and in insecure environments.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Duty Station: Bidu Woreda, Zone 2, Afar Region.
4. Field Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting Officer
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Development Studies, Economics, Project Management, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree is an advantage.
Experience:
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning within development or humanitarian projects.
Key Skills:
- MEL framework development and evaluation.
- Data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Experience with Excel, Kobo/ODK, SPSS, STATA, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of results-based management, indicators, and logical frameworks.
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work with field teams and local communities.
Duty Station: Abala, Zone 2, with frequent travel to Bidu and Erebti Woredas.
5. Field-Level Project Coordinator
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Management, Public Health, Psychology, Social Work, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Master’s degree is an advantage.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience managing humanitarian or development projects in relevant sectors such as Health, Protection, or WASH.
- At least 3 years in a leadership or senior-management role in complex and remote emergency settings.
- Experience coordinating multisectoral programs involving Health, Nutrition, Protection, and WASH.
- Experience in Afar or other pastoralist settings is highly desirable.
Key Skills:
- Strong knowledge of integrated Health, Protection, and WASH programs.
- Donor reporting, proposal development, and budget-management skills.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English and Afarigna is mandatory.
- Previous NGO experience is required.
Duty Station: Abala, Zone 2, with frequent travel to Bidu and Erebti Woredas.
6. Health Officer
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Officer, or Medicine.
- Valid professional license is required.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in primary healthcare, nutrition, or emergency-response programs.
- Experience in humanitarian settings, mobile clinics, or hard-to-reach locations is highly desirable.
Key Competencies:
- Experience planning, implementing, and monitoring health projects.
- Knowledge of primary healthcare, disease prevention, and health-system strengthening.
- Ability to develop targets, monitor progress, and prepare analytical reports.
- Understanding of Ethiopia’s primary healthcare service packages and EPHC clinical guidelines.
- Knowledge of communicable diseases, maternal and child health, and emergency-care protocols.
- Experience managing medical supplies, drugs, procurement, distribution, and inventory.
