Job Description
The Ethiopia Media Women Association (EMWA)
was established in 1999 and re-registered in 2019 as per Article 85 of the CSO Proclamation No.1113/2019. EMWA is a professional association that aims to empower women in and through the media. It works to build the capacity of its members who are female media professionals and advance gender equality and equity in media. It implements research-based advocacy, resource mobilization as well as partnership and coordination to attain its vision.
Purpose of the Role
The Project Officer will play a key role in the successful design, implementation, and management of EMWA’s projects. The position requires a proactive individual with strong project management skills, who can effectively collaborate with various stakeholders, manage resources efficiently, and promote the visibility of EMWA’s work.
Key Responsibilities
1, Project Design and Implementation
Develop compelling and well-structured concept notes, project proposals and ToR;
Partner with consultants, stakeholders, and collaborators to enhance project proposals and increase success rates.
Collaborate with the management team to create detailed project plans and oversee quality and timely implementation of projects;
Work closely with the finance team to develop accurate and realistic project budgets aligned with proposed activities and outcomes;
Ensure the efficient management of project budgets and resources, working closely with the finance team to guarantee the timely completion of deliverables;
Manage and control project activities and financial implementation to ensure efficient and effective project and financial implementation;
Prepare periodic quality reports in line with the requirements of relevant entities;
Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and liaise with stakeholders, partners, and volunteers to ensure smooth project operations;
Evaluate project outcomes and impacts, providing insights and recommendations for future initiatives;
Design and implement strategies for income generation in collaboration with management, the executive board, members, and stakeholders;
Contribute to maximizing the organization’s financial resources through strategic planning and execution.
Actively contribute to the overall success and growth of EMWA through participation in organizational activities;
Represent EMWA professionally when appropriate and necessary;
2, Communication and Visibility
Promote EMWA’s activities and accomplishments through various media outlets to increase visibility;
Collaborate with mentor and interns to support project outcomes;
Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including reports, presentations, and promotion materials.
Maintain harmonious working relationships with staff, stakeholders, and partners.
Maintain communication with members when appropriate and necessary.
Salary
: As per the organization’s scale.
Contract: 1-year contract, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding.

Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s/ MA degree in Project Management, Gender, Communication, or a related field.
At least 3-5 years of experience in project management, preferably within an NGO or media-related
Proven communication, public speaking, interpersonal and negotiation skills,
Excellent computer literacy
Fluency in written and spoken Amharic and English is required
Desirable
: Having Strong understanding of issues related to gender equality and diversity in the media industry
Skills
Strong writing and communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Proficiency in budgeting and financial management
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams
Experience in promoting projects through various media channels
