Gudina Tumsa Foundation (GTF) is inviting qualified and experienced professionals to apply for the following full-time opportunities. The positions are based on project and research activities related to tourism, hospitality, and skills development in Ethiopia.

1. Project Manager – Koelim Hospitality Learning Center

Contract Duration: 1 year, with the possibility of extension based on performance
Employment Type: Full-time

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and coordination of the Koelim Hospitality Learning Center project.
  • Manage daily project operations and ensure activities are completed efficiently and on schedule.
  • Monitor project activities, deliverables, milestones, and timelines.
  • Coordinate the construction and establishment of the Learning Center with consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Build partnerships with universities, hotels, tourism organizations, government institutions, development partners, and private-sector stakeholders.
  • Support business development and identify potential revenue-generating opportunities.
  • Follow up on marketing, branding, and promotional activities for the Center’s launch.
  • Monitor budgets, progress reports, and performance evaluations.
  • Supervise project staff, consultants, and service providers while promoting teamwork and professionalism.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s Degree preferred, or Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Hospitality Management, Hotel Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in project planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Strong business development, partnership management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience working with government institutions, private organizations, international partners, consultants, or contractors is an advantage.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, problem-solving, and team-management abilities.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in sustainable tourism and hospitality initiatives.
  • Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of tourism and hospitality operations, customer service, industry standards, destination development, and hospitality management is preferred.

2. Technical Research Assistant – Tourism & Hospitality Research

Contract Duration: 2 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance
Employment Type: Full-time

Position Summary

The Technical Research Assistant will conduct a rapid assessment of Ethiopia’s tourism and hospitality sector. The research will contribute to GTF’s Hospitality Training Initiative, planned partnerships with training institutions, and the long-term development of its own training school.

Main Responsibilities

  • Research Ethiopia’s tourism and hospitality sector, including opportunities, challenges, and workforce requirements.
  • Identify skills shortages and training gaps within the hospitality industry.
  • Assess existing tourism and hospitality training institutions and their curricula.
  • Conduct consultations with hotels, restaurants, training institutions, students, government stakeholders, and other relevant organizations.
  • Identify potential industry and institutional partnerships.
  • Analyze research findings and develop practical, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Prepare a concise final research report and presentation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s Degree preferred, or Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism, Hospitality, Business, Economics, Education, Research, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant research or professional experience.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Strong research, analytical, writing, and communication skills.
  • Experience conducting interviews, surveys, or stakeholder consultations.
  • Previous experience in tourism and hospitality is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Ethiopia’s tourism and hospitality sector is an advantage.
