About PENHA
The Pastoral and Environmental Network in the Horn of Africa (PENHA) is a regional NGO established in 1989, with offices in Ethiopia and Somaliland. PENHA works on pastoralism, rangelands, dry forests, and landscape restoration, with a strong emphasis on gender equality and social inclusion . PENHA is currently implementing a UNEP‑GEF funded project in collaboration with Ethiopian Forestry Development (EFD), focusing on scaling up best practices from the Green Legacy Initiative to strengthen climate resilience and livelihoods across six districts in Ethiopia.
Available Positions
1️⃣ Project Coordinator
Qualification: Master’s degree in forestry, climate change adaptation, environment & development studies, natural resource management, or related fields. Experience: Minimum of 10 years in environment, forestry, or natural resource management projects; prior experience with GEF‑funded projects preferred. Key Skills: Project management, financial oversight, stakeholder engagement, gender mainstreaming, climate‑resilient landscape restoration. Location: Addis Ababa Contract Duration: 60 months (2‑year renewable contract)
2️⃣ Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Specialist
Qualification: Master’s degree in project management, economics, environment & development studies, forestry, or natural resource management. Experience: Minimum of 7 years in M&E, project management, or coordination; experience with GEF‑funded projects is an advantage. Key Skills: Data management, analytical reporting, GIS knowledge, participatory monitoring, evaluation frameworks. Location: Addis Ababa Contract Duration: 60 months (2‑year renewable contract)
3️⃣ Gender and Safeguards Specialist (Part‑Time)
Qualification: Master’s degree in environmental studies, gender studies, social sciences, natural resource management, or related fields. Experience: Minimum of 5 years in gender mainstreaming and safeguards compliance; experience with GEF‑funded projects preferred. Key Skills: Gender Action Plan development, environmental/social safeguards, participatory consultations, grievance redress mechanisms. Location: Addis Ababa (missions to districts) Contract Duration: 32 months (within a 60‑month project, 2.5 days per week)
4️⃣ Financial Officer
Qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related fields. Experience: 5–7 years in financial management, preferably within donor‑funded projects; GEF project experience is an advantage. Key Skills: Budgeting, compliance, financial reporting, risk management, stakeholder engagement. Location: Addis Ababa Contract Duration: 60 months (2‑year renewable contract)
