About the FAO Internship Programme
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is inviting expressions of interest from qualified young professionals and students for its Internship Programme for Africa (RAF) .
The programme provides participants with an opportunity to complement their academic studies with practical experience in areas related to FAO's work. Interns may contribute to activities supporting the transformation of agri-food systems and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Assignments are available in different areas depending on the candidate's academic profile and the needs of the hiring office.

Internship Responsibilities
The intern will report to an assigned supervisor and will be assigned to a field of work according to their academic profile and the needs of the Organization.
Specific duties and responsibilities will be defined in the Terms of Reference (TOR) prepared by the relevant hiring office.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree programme at a recognized higher education institution at the time of application, or be a recent graduate. Have an academic specialization relevant to FAO's mission and work. Hold higher education qualifications from an institution accredited or recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED) . Have working knowledge of at least one FAO language: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian or Spanish . Knowledge of a second FAO language is considered an asset. Be a national of an FAO Member. Be between 21 and 30 years of age . Be able to adapt to an international and multicultural working environment. Have good communication skills.
Relevant Fields of Study
Candidates should have academic studies relevant to the work and mission of FAO. Specific assignments and technical areas will depend on the candidate's profile and the requirements of the hiring office.

FAO does not charge any fee at any stage of its recruitment process, including application, interview or processing.
Qualified female applicants, nationals of non- and under-represented FAO Members, and candidates from specified developing-country groups are encouraged to apply.
Candidates who have previously completed an internship assignment at FAO are not eligible for another FAO internship.
Selected candidates must have the appropriate residence or immigration status in the proposed country of assignment before joining the Organization.
Candidates with family members, as defined by FAO, employed by FAO under any contractual arrangement are not eligible for the Internship Programme.
FAO provides a monthly stipend to interns who are not sponsored by their sending universities or other entities.
