The Orthopedic Surgeon will specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders of the musculoskeletal system. This includes injuries and diseases of bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and nerves. The role involves both surgical and non-surgical management, aiming to restore function and mobility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical Duties:
Evaluate patients with musculoskeletal conditions through history, physical examination, and imaging studies.
Diagnose and manage a wide range of orthopedic conditions, including fractures, dislocations, degenerative joint diseases, sports injuries, and spinal disorders.
Perform various orthopedic surgeries, such as fracture fixation, joint replacement, arthroscopy, and spine surgery.
Provide comprehensive pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care.
Recommend and oversee rehabilitation plans in collaboration with physiotherapists.
Manage orthopedic emergencies effectively.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate and detailed patient surgical and medical records.
Collaborate with emergency physicians, physiotherapists, and other specialists for coordinated patient care.
Participate in departmental meetings and quality assurance programs related to orthopedic outcomes.
Educational Duties:
Educate patients and their families on their orthopedic conditions, treatment options, and rehabilitation processes.
Mentor junior medical staff and students in orthopedic principles and surgical techniques.
Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated with advancements in orthopedic surgery.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Medical Doctor (MD) degree from a recognized institution.
Specialization in Orthopedic Surgery.
Valid professional license by the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA) or equivalent regulatory body in Ethiopia
Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable post-specialization experience in orthopedic surgical practice.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
