The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) is inviting qualified candidates to apply for four research-related positions in Addis Ababa. The opportunities include GIS and Remote Sensing, AI/Machine Learning, laboratory management, and statistics.

Position 1: Junior Researcher – GIS & Remote Sensing

Requirements:

• BSc/BA degree in GIS and Remote Sensing, Geomatics, Cartography, or a related field.
• No prior work experience is required.
• Minimum CGPA:
  • 3.00 for male applicants
  • 2.75 for female applicants

Duty Station: Addis Ababa
Number of Positions: 1
Employment: Full-time, one-year contract with the possibility of extension.
Salary: According to the institution's salary scale.

Position 2: Junior Researcher – AI/ML Engineer

Requirements:

• BSc/MSc degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• Zero years of work experience required.
• Minimum CGPA:
  • 3.00 for male applicants
  • 2.75 for female applicants
• Basic knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R.
• Familiarity with data science and machine learning tools such as NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
• Basic ability to work in a Linux/Unix command-line environment.
• Strong interest in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and biomedical data research.
• Advanced HPC/Linux training will be provided.

Position 3: Researcher II – Laboratory Manager

Requirements:

• PhD in Medical Biochemistry, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a closely related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Publication score of 6 or above.
• Applicants must include their publication link with their CV.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

• Laboratory management, supervision, and coordination.
• Laboratory quality management systems and accreditation.
• Research laboratory operations and laboratory technologies.
• Staff training, mentoring, and capacity building.
• Development and implementation of SOPs and laboratory documentation.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary research teams and collaborators is an advantage.

Position 4: Assistant Researcher I – Statistics

Requirements:

• BSc degree in Statistics, Data Science with strong quantitative training, or a closely related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience in areas such as:
  • Statistical analysis
  • Data science
  • Health research
  • Surveillance
  • Research data management
  • Related quantitative roles
• Minimum CGPA:
  • 3.00 for male applicants
  • 2.75 for female applicants
