1. Affiliate Contractor – Project Associate (Reintegration)
Job Summary
The Project Associate will support IOM's Return and Reintegration activities in Ethiopia, including individual reintegration assistance, livelihoods support, community-based reintegration, beneficiary monitoring, referrals, economic inclusion, and programme documentation.
The position works under the overall supervision of the Programme Officer (Return and Reintegration) and direct supervision of the National Officer (Reintegration).
Key Responsibilities
Conduct beneficiary assessments and support the development and implementation of individual reintegration plans. Deliver and follow up on individual reintegration assistance, including livelihoods support, vocational training, business development support, and referrals. Maintain beneficiary case files and update MiMOSA, databases, and reintegration tracking tools. Conduct beneficiary monitoring and follow-up visits to assess progress and document reintegration outcomes. Support Community-Based Reintegration (CBR) activities. Participate in Community-Based Planning (CBP), including consultations, assessments, and participatory planning. Support livelihoods and economic inclusion activities, including skills development, income-generating activities, cooperative initiatives, and business support. Assist with Enterprise Development Fund (EDF) activities. Support returnees' access to financial services, microfinance institutions, and business development opportunities. Undertake field missions related to beneficiary support, local procurement, training delivery, and activity monitoring. Support community engagement, awareness-raising, and beneficiary mobilization. Collect monitoring data, beneficiary feedback, success stories, and lessons learned. Prepare activity reports, field mission reports, and other programme documentation. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
School diploma with five years of relevant experience; or Bachelor's degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or a related field, with three years of relevant professional experience.
Relevant experience includes:
Working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable groups, including counselling and referral support. Establishing and maintaining working relationships with government counterparts, local NGOs, international organizations, and private-sector entities. Experience in return and reintegration, including AVRR schemes, or related livelihoods or protection programming. Previous experience with UN and international agencies or NGOs is preferred.
Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and planning skills. Ability to work independently and under pressure. Ability to work effectively with colleagues from different cultural and professional backgrounds. Understanding of social protection and migration issues, particularly migrants' rights and protection, is an advantage.
Languages
English and Amharic are required, both oral and written.
Working knowledge of other Ethiopian languages, particularly Afaan Oromo and/or Tigrigna , is desirable.
2. Project Associate (Reintegration) – Jimma Duty Station
Job Summary
The Project Associate will support IOM's reintegration activities from its reintegration hub in Jimma Zone, Oromia Region , working closer to returnees, communities, local authorities, and service providers.
The role supports individual reintegration assistance, community-based reintegration, livelihoods opportunities, beneficiary follow-up, referrals, and Enterprise Development Fund-related activities.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities are centered on:
Conducting beneficiary assessments and supporting individual reintegration plans. Delivering and following up on reintegration assistance. Supporting livelihoods, vocational training, business development, and referrals. Maintaining beneficiary case files and updating MiMOSA and reintegration tracking systems. Conducting beneficiary monitoring and follow-up visits. Supporting Community-Based Reintegration activities. Participating in Community-Based Planning processes. Supporting skills development, income-generating activities, cooperatives, and business support. Assisting with Enterprise Development Fund activities. Supporting access to financial services, microfinance institutions, and business development opportunities. Undertaking field missions for beneficiary support, procurement, training, and activity monitoring. Supporting community engagement and beneficiary mobilization. 3. Affiliate Contractor – Project Associate (Migration Response Centres)
Job Summary
The Project Associate will support IOM's Migration Response Centres (MRCs) and protection activities in Ethiopia. The role involves supporting protection programming, case referrals, data management, reporting, training, procurement and logistics, partner coordination, field activities, and MRC operations.
The position works under the overall supervision of the Programme Officer (Protection) and direct supervision of the National Officer (Protection).
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to protection programming and provide technical support to MRC staff and capacity-development activities. Assist with coordination and implementation of protection activities, including protection Standard Operating Procedures where required. Receive, analyze, and report protection cases referred by field teams, partners, or hotlines. Support MRC data management and prepare weekly, monthly, annual, and donor reports. Organize training sessions for MRC staff and partners on migrant protection and assistance, PSEA, GBV case management, child protection, and related topics. Assist with procurement and logistics for protection-related activities. Follow up on field requests related to MRC activities. Participate in meetings with protection partners and support information sharing and preparation of IP agreements. Facilitate meetings and workshops, including MRC weekly meetings. Support timely preparation and submission of programme reports. Conduct field visits and provide recommendations to improve MRC interventions. Participate in meetings related to MRC operations. Support requests from external partners, including UN agencies, international and local NGOs, and universities. Support MRC visibility activities in coordination with the communications team. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
A Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields or a related field is required:
Psychology Social Psychology Development Studies Migration Studies Social Work Humanitarian Aid
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of experience in humanitarian, migration, and/or development settings is required.
Experience with international organizations, NGOs, or UN agencies is an asset.
Skills
Ability to work in multicultural environments with vulnerable populations. Strong communication and cultural sensitivity. Ability to work in challenging and stressful situations. Knowledge of migration-related subject areas. Experience with movement management. Knowledge of migrant protection and assistance. Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Windows/MS Office applications. Excellent communication skills.
