About Ama Commitment
Ama Commitment
("The Mothers' Commitment") is Ephtah Specialty Coffee's flagship social impact and charitable initiative dedicated to empowering women coffee farmers and strengthening rural communities across Ethiopia. Through education, healthcare, environmental conservation, economic empowerment, and sustainable livelihood initiatives, the program seeks to improve the lives of farming families while promoting responsible coffee production.
The Role
The role is responsible for leading the Ama Commitment social impact initiative, managing sustainability certifications, strengthening supplier sustainability, ensuring compliance with international standards, fostering stakeholder partnerships, and driving measurable environmental and social impact while supporting the company's long-term business objectives

Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and periodically review the company's sustainability strategy aligned with the corporate vision and business objectives.
Establish annual sustainability goals, key performance indicators (KPIs), and implementation plans.
Advise senior management on sustainability risks, opportunities, regulatory developments, and emerging industry trends.
Promote sustainability as an integral part of organizational culture and decision-making.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives across all business functions.
Develop and implement environmental sustainability programs across the coffee supply chain.
Promote climate-smart and regenerative agricultural practices among coffee producers.
Lead initiatives related to biodiversity conservation, water stewardship, waste reduction, recycling, and responsible resource management.
Measure, monitor, and recommend initiatives to reduce the company's carbon footprint.
Support environmental impact assessments and climate resilience initiatives.
Provide overall leadership and management of the
Ama Commitment
program.
Design, implement, and monitor projects that empower women farmers and improve community livelihoods.
Conduct sustainability assessments and audits of suppliers and producer organizations.
Develop monitoring and evaluation frameworks for sustainability programs.
Build and maintain strategic partnerships with government institutions, NGOs, certification bodies, research institutions, development agencies, coffee associations, donors, and international buyers.
Identify grant funding opportunities and strategic partnerships.
Monitor project implementation, budgets, deliverables, and timelines.
Develop and update sustainability policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures.
Monitor international sustainability trends, coffee industry developments, and best practices.
Conduct regular field visits to coffee-producing regions across Ethiopia.
Reporting Line
Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Development Studies, Environmental Engineering, Social Sciences, or a related field.
A Master's Degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
Required Experience
Minimum of
five (5) years
of progressively responsible experience in sustainability management, preferably within the coffee, agriculture, agribusiness, export, or international development sectors.
Demonstrated experience in obtaining and maintaining Rainforest Alliance Certification.
Experience managing sustainability projects and community development programs.
Experience working with coffee cooperatives, farmers, and rural communities.
Experience in ESG reporting, sustainability compliance, and impact measurement.
Experience managing donor-funded projects and grant reporting is an advantage.

Supply Chain Sustainability, Certification & Regulatory Compliance (including Rainforest Alliance Standards)
Stakeholder Engagement, Community Development, Grant Management & Capacity Building
Data Analysis, Budget Management, and Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Reporting Tools
Language Requirements
Fluency in

Other Requirements
Willingness to travel extensively to coffee-growing regions throughout Ethiopia.
Valid Ethiopian driving license is an advantage.
High level of personal initiative, professionalism, and commitment to sustainability.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
