Geologist (Coal Mining)

Konta, Ethiopia

Salary:
ETB 50,000 Net per month
Job Summary
The Geologist will be responsible for conducting geological investigations, evaluating coal deposits, supervising exploration activities, and providing technical support for coal mining operations. The role requires extensive experience in coal exploration, mine geology, resource estimation, and mining operations to support efficient and safe coal extraction activities.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct geological mapping, sampling, and analysis of coal deposits.
Plan, supervise, and monitor coal exploration and drilling activities.
Interpret geological data and prepare geological models and resource estimates.
Assess coal quality, reserves, and resource potential.
Provide geological guidance and support to mining operations.
Prepare geological reports, maps, cross-sections, and technical documentation.
Monitor mining activities and provide recommendations for efficient coal extraction.
Coordinate with mining engineers and other technical teams.
Maintain geological databases and records.
Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Support mine planning and long-term resource development activities.
Salary and Benefits
Net Salary:
ETB 50,000 per month
Housing allowance

Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Applied Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
Professional certification or membership in relevant geological associations is desirable.
Experience
Minimum of
10 years of relevant work experience
.
Proven experience in
coal mining and coal exploration projects
.
Experience in geological modeling, reserve estimation, and mine geology.
Experience in open-pit or underground coal mining operations is highly desirable.
