The Ethiopian Statistical Service (ESS) – Jimma Branch Office has announced contract employment opportunities for qualified applicants to participate in the 2018/19 E.C. Agricultural Sample Survey (AGSS). The recruitment is open for Field Work Supervisors and Statistical Data Collectors who will support agricultural data collection activities in Jimma and surrounding areas.

1. Field Work Supervisor

  • Salary: ETB 17,838 per month
  • Employment Type: Contract

Required Qualification:

Applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields:

Statistics, Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Engineering Technology, Mathematics, Accounting, Management, Sociology, Geography, Economics, Social Work, Social Anthropology, Social Administration, Social Services, Demography, Environmental Studies, Animal Science, Animal Health Science, Plant Science, Agro-forestry, Horticulture, or related disciplines.

Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience

Additional Skills:

  • Computer literacy
  • Experience with tablet-based data collection
  • Ability to travel and work in rural field locations, including woreda and kebele areas
  • Good physical health and readiness for field assignments

2. Statistical Data Collector

Statistics, Computer Science, MIS, Engineering Technology, Mathematics, Accounting, Management, Sociology, Geography, Economics, Social Work, Social Anthropology, Social Administration, Social Services, Demography, Environmental Studies, Animal Science, Animal Health Science, Plant Science, Agro-forestry, Horticulture, or related fields.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience

Additional Skills:

  • Basic computer skills
  • Experience collecting data using tablets is advantageous
  • Ability to work in challenging field conditions and travel by foot when required

  • Previous experience in Ethiopian Statistical Service surveys will be given priority.
  • Graduates from 2015 E.C. and onwards must have passed the National Higher Education Exit Exam.
  • Applicants must provide an acceptable guarantor/surety for entrusted government property and cash.
  • Experience certificates from private organizations must confirm that employment income tax was properly paid.
  • Applicants with higher qualifications may apply if they meet the minimum requirements.
  • Field workers will receive daily per diem payments according to government regulations.
