Job Description
Starting date of collaboration Duty station Duration Job summary:- Drive CESVI vehicles within the program area as well as outside the program as required.
- Provide effective transport facilitation to CESVI staff in order to attain the objectives of the organization.
- Provide effective transport facilitation to CESVI visitors when requested.
- Keep the vehicle assigned clean and carry out periodic maintenance of vehicle.
- Drive safely and treats passengers properly.
- Adhere to the policy of the organization by signing CESVI's vehicle use document.
- Drive CESVI Ethiopia vehicles to give service to CESVI staff as required and given schedule by the Country Logistics and Supply Chain Coordinator.
- Always carry out basic security checks on the vehicles that he/she uses before starting driving and at the end of the day. (battery, water, fuel and oil levels, radiator water, Tire pressure/condition, etc.)
- Always carry out the weekly vehicle technical check list (Checking the vehicle electrical system, lubrication sys, cooling sys, power train sys, brake and steering system, suspension sys and others)
- Ensure the vehicle meets the maintenance schedule and should inform the Country Logistics and Supply Chain Co. of any faults as and they occur.
- Maintain neat & accurate record of all journeys in the vehicle log book.
- Carry out the daily vehicle check and inventory.
- Report immediately any damage or accident to the immediate supervisor in Addis Ababa following correct procedures in the case of the accident, incident or complaints.
- Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and tidy always.
- Ensure that the vehicle is only used for CESVI approved purposes.
- Keep and respect CESVI driver rule and conduct.
- Respect traffic regulation as per the Road Transport and Traffic regulation.
- Responsible for the collection, storage, transport and final delivery of all goods in his/her vehicle.
- Ensure every passenger wear Safety Belt before start driving the vehicle.
- Not answering mobile phone when driving
- Driving style should suit local conditions, and should be careful and passive
- Dress and behave in a respectable manner at all times
- Manage his/her time properly and report promptly to work. S/he should also ensure that s/he is adequately rested prior to long journeys
- Drivers requiring prescription glasses must wear these at all times when driving
- Carry out a weekly vehicle check, and submit the Weekly Vehicle Check form to the Country Logistics and Supply Chain Co
- Be familiar with the tools and equipment in the vehicle
- Be familiar with the local area and planned journey route prior to departure, particularly any security issues to be aware of
- Undertake any other duties as requested by immediate supervisor.
- Be familiar with vehicle manual, Automatic transmission and electrical type vehicle to drive
- It also requires ability to travel up to field offices when needed.
Requirements
Essential requirements- Diploma in Auto mechanics and Knowledge of basic motor vehicle mechanics
- Certificate in Basic computer
- Good command of English language at least level III (listening, Speaking, reading and writing)
- A minimum of 5 years experience as a Driver, preferably in INGO environment.
- A minimum of Grade three valid driving licenses.
- Must have a clean and valid driving license
- Familiar with city traffic, short cuts, one-way streets, etc
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Very good knowledge and application of the country’s as well as organization’s Driving, Road Transport and Traffic regulations
- Team oriented and flexible; keen to take initiative where appropriate
- Quick in understanding, keen in taking instructions, and able to work with minimum supervision
- Willing to travel to remote areas and to the field offices, ability to work flexibly including weekends and willingness to travel and work in rural locations and live in basic conditions.
- Willing, ready and able to perform other duties as delegated to him/her by his/her supervisor.
