Position: Chemist

Required Qualification & Experience

Applicants should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Applied Chemistry, Applied Biology, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in the food, beverage, or FMCG industry.

Job Summary

The Chemist will be responsible for conducting physico-chemical laboratory analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and wastewater to ensure compliance with company quality standards and national regulations. The role also involves maintaining laboratory equipment, preparing reagents, documenting analytical results, and supporting quality assurance activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform physico-chemical testing on raw materials, production samples, finished products, and wastewater.
  • Ensure laboratory activities comply with quality, safety, and sustainability standards, including Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
  • Conduct testing on utilities such as treated water, boiler water, CO₂ purity, chlorine residue, and glycol concentration.
  • Calibrate laboratory and inline testing equipment according to established schedules.
  • Monitor product quality through organoleptic evaluations during different production stages.
  • Maintain accurate records of laboratory results, chemical consumption, and inventory movement.
  • Analyze samples related to product recalls and customer complaints.
  • Report abnormal test results promptly and recommend production stoppage when required for further investigation.
  • Prepare laboratory reagents and materials according to daily and shift testing plans.
  • Continuously improve professional knowledge and stay updated with industry developments.
  • Report issues related to Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS), Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS).
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures and perform additional duties assigned by the supervisor.
