About the Role
We are seeking an outstanding, patient-focused
Cardiologist
to join our growing clinical team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing clinical excellence, preventive cardiology, patient education, and the development of high-quality cardiac care pathways.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
1.
Specialist Assessment, Diagnosis and Treatment Planning
Assess patients presenting with cardiovascular symptoms and conditions through comprehensive history taking, clinical evaluation, cardiovascular risk stratification, and diagnostic planning.
Develop differential diagnoses and formulate evidence-based management plans.
Interpret ECGs, echocardiograms, cardiac biomarkers, Holter monitoring, stress testing, CT coronary angiography, and other cardiovascular investigations to guide clinical decision-making.
Document clinical assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedural findings, progress notes, and follow-up instructions accurately and promptly in line with cardiology standards.
2.
Patient Management and Continuity of Care
Manage patients across the full spectrum of cardiovascular conditions.
Prescribe and oversee pharmacological management in accordance with evidence-based guidelines.
Perform and interpret non-invasive cardiac investigations including echocardiography, exercise stress testing, ambulatory ECG monitoring, and other relevant cardiology diagnostics.
Coordinate referrals for invasive cardiology, cardiac surgery, electrophysiology, cardiac rehabilitation, and multidisciplinary chronic cardiovascular disease support.
Monitor treatment response, cardiovascular risk factor control, symptom trajectory, and functional status, adjusting management plans promptly in line with clinical findings.
3.
Clinical Monitoring, Review and Medical Decision-Making
Review patient progress regularly and modify management plans according to clinical response, cardiac investigation results, treatment tolerance, and evolving patient needs.
Monitor high-risk patients for complications.
Provide timely escalation, referral, or transfer recommendations when higher levels of care, invasive cardiology intervention, or emergency management are required.
·Participate in case reviews, multidisciplinary discussions, clinical handovers, and care planning meetings to support optimal patient outcomes.
4.
Patient Safety, Quality of Care and Infection Prevention
Promote safe, evidence-based cardiology practice in line with institutional protocols, international guidelines, and ethical standards.
Apply infection prevention and control measures consistently across all patient interactions, cardiac investigations, and clinical procedures.
Identify clinical risks, adverse events, and near misses, and take prompt corrective and preventive action in line with governance requirements.
Support the rational use of cardiac investigations, anticoagulation therapies, and cardiovascular medications to optimize clinical and safety outcomes.

Communication, Documentation and Patient Education
Maintain accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation, including consultation notes, echocardiography reports, procedure summaries, and long-term management plans.
Communicate diagnoses, cardiovascular risk, treatment options, procedural risks, lifestyle recommendations, and follow-up expectations clearly to patients and their families.
Provide counselling on cardiovascular risk factor modification, medication adherence, dietary changes, lifestyle changes and cardiac rehabilitation where indicated.
Ensure effective clinical handovers and timely communication with referring clinicians, cardiac surgery teams, and multidisciplinary team members.
6.
Leadership, Teamwork and Professional Conduct
Work collaboratively with internal medicine physicians, nurses, radiologists, pharmacists, laboratory professionals, dietitians, and other health care professionals to deliver integrated cardiac care.
Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, sound ethical judgment, and respect for patient confidentiality at all times.
Contribute to mentorship, knowledge sharing, and clinical guidance for junior medical staff where appropriate.
Participate actively in multidisciplinary meetings, cardiac case conferences, morbidity and mortality reviews, and continuous professional development activities.
7.
Quality Improvement, Clinical Governance and Compliance
Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives, and patient safety reviews to strengthen cardiology service performance and patient outcomes.
Adhere to national medical regulations, licensing requirements, institutional protocols, and accepted standards of cardiology practice.
Support the development and implementation of cardiac care pathways, chest pain protocols, heart failure management guidelines, and other cardiology standard operating procedures.
Contribute to data-driven improvement efforts through accurate reporting, outcome documentation, and clinical incident review when required.
8.
Operational and Service Coordination Responsibilities
Coordinate effectively with laboratory, imaging, ECG, echocardiography, cardiac rehabilitation, and allied services to ensure timely investigations and treatment decisions.
Support efficient patient flow by facilitating cardiology consultations, referrals, procedure scheduling, and long-term follow-up coordination.
Promote cost-conscious and clinically appropriate use of cardiac investigations, medications, and interventional referrals.
Assist in cardiology service development by identifying opportunities to improve patient experience, workflow efficiency, and clinical outcomes.

Duties may be updated based on service needs, organizational changes, or professional development.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills
Doctor of Medicine degree with subspecialty training in Cardiology from a recognized institution.
Valid professional license and registration to practice as a Cardiologist in Ethiopia.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant subspecialty experience in cardiology practice.
Strong ability to interpret ECGs, cardiac biomarkers, echocardiograms, and cardiovascular imaging, and integrate findings into patient management.
Familiarity with international cardiology guidelines and evidence-based cardiovascular management protocols.
Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice, patient safety, quality improvement, and multidisciplinary cardiac care.
Excellent clinical judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capability in complex or acute cardiovascular presentations.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills with a patient-centered approach.
Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and in a fast-paced, high-standard healthcare environment.
Experience in echocardiography reporting, cardiac imaging interpretation, or quality-accredited cardiology settings will be an added advantage.
