About The Role
We are seeking a competent and solutions-oriented Part-Time Biomedical Engineer to join our growing team.
This role offers the opportunity to support a modern, technology-enabled healthcare environment by ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of medical equipment. The successful candidate will oversee equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration follow-up, technical support, and continuous improvement to ensure high-quality patient care.

Duties & Responsibilities
1.
Equipment Maintenance and Technical Support
Monitor the performance, safety, and functionality of medical equipment and related systems across assigned departments.
Carry out or coordinate preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, inspections, and service follow-up for medical equipment.
Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and technical incidents to minimize service interruption and operational risk.
Assess equipment faults, document findings, and recommend corrective action, repair, replacement, or upgrade as appropriate.

Installation, Calibration and Commissioning
Support installation, acceptance testing, commissioning, relocation, and decommissioning of biomedical equipment.
Coordinate internal and external calibration activities and ensure calibration certificates and maintenance records are properly updated.
Work closely with vendors and service providers during installation, maintenance visits, and equipment performance assessments.

Asset Management and Documentation
Maintain an up-to-date inventory of medical equipment, accessories, warranties, maintenance schedules, service history, and technical documentation.
Prepare technical reports on equipment status, downtime, utilization, maintenance trends, and replacement needs.
Support procurement processes by providing technical specifications, evaluation input, and advice on equipment selection and lifecycle planning.
4.
Safety, Quality and Compliance
Ensure biomedical equipment is used and maintained in accordance with safety requirements, manufacturer guidelines, and applicable standards.
Participate in risk assessments, incident investigations, audits, and quality improvement initiatives related to equipment safety and performance.
Help ensure readiness for inspections, accreditation, and regulatory reviews through proper documentation and technical compliance.
5.
Training, Collaboration and Professional Conduct
Provide orientation and user guidance to clinical and support staff on proper equipment handling, basic care, and reporting of faults.
Collaborate with radiology, laboratory, nursing, procurement, IT, facilities, and management teams to support safe and efficient service delivery.
Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, confidentiality, and responsiveness in all technical support activities.
N.B;
Additional duties may be assigned based on service expansion, equipment needs, and organizational priorities.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering or a related engineering field from a recognized institution.
At least 3 years of relevant experience in biomedical equipment maintenance in a hospital, clinic, or diagnostic center is preferred.
Strong knowledge of medical equipment systems, preventive maintenance principles, troubleshooting, calibration, and technical documentation.
Good analytical, reporting, vendor coordination, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Good computer skills and ability to manage equipment records and maintenance schedules accurately.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with complex scheduling and coordination.
Team oriented with the ability to partner across all functions within the organization
