The Senior Accountant
is responsible for managing and overseeing core accounting operations, financial reporting activities, and transaction controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and financial discipline within the organization.
The role plays a critical function in maintaining reliable financial records, supporting financial reporting, monitoring receivables and payables, ensuring tax compliance, and strengthening internal financial controls. The position supports management by providing accurate financial information, analysis, and operational financial follow-up to support effective decision-making.
The Senior Accountant is expected to ensure high standards of accuracy, accountability, and professionalism while supporting the efficiency and integrity of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all statutory obligations of the company, including VAT, withholding tax, and other tax declarations.
Prepare and submit timely monthly and annual financial reports for group reporting purposes.
Manage and ensure completion of monthly and annual closing processes within deadlines.
Perform daily reconciliation of cash collections against cash sales, cash receipts, and bank deposits.
Reconcile daily cash reports with bank statements and investigate/resolve any variances with proper documentation.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
Oversee financial documentation related to import and export transactions.
Apply Incoterms (FOB, CIF, etc.) to determine financial responsibility, shipping costs, and transfer of ownership.
Ensure accurate accounting of accruals for transit inventory, prepaid freight, and outstanding customs clearances.
Prepare accurate Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow reports reflecting international operations.
Track goods in transit and ensure proper recognition of inventory ownership in financial records.
Manage VAT/GST on imports and ensure proper documentation for exemptions or refunds on exports.
Handle withholding tax-related fees and compliance requirements.
Receive, review, and properly maintain bank statements on a timely basis.
Code and post all transactions in Peachtree accounting software (Sage 50).
Monitor supplier GRI receipts for coffee deliveries and ensure proper recording.
Perform other duties assigned by the department head.

Strong proficiency in Excel and accounting systems
Educational Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from accredited university
Professional certification or ongoing certification training is an added advantage
