Position Overview
The Woreda Cluster Forestry Team Leader will support forestry development and management activities at the woreda and kebele levels, including land-use assessment, identification of suitable forestry intervention areas, nursery assessment, seedling production planning, and documentation of tree species.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Collect and analyze data on land-use patterns, forest coverage, agro-ecological conditions, and socio-economic factors from relevant sectors at woreda and kebele levels. Identify and document communal and private lands suitable for forestry interventions. Assess government and private nurseries and prepare plans for materials and inputs required for seedling production. Gather information on tree species grown in intervention kebeles. Compile a list of preferred tree species based on community preferences. Submit the preferred tree species list to the Senior Forestry Officer .
Education and Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields:
Forestry General Forestry Environmental Science Natural Resource Management A related field
Professional Experience
At least 5 years of experience in forest development and management, nursery establishment for quality seedling production, and related activities. Proven field experience working in rural areas of Gofa Zone . Experience working with international NGOs is an advantage. Direct work experience with government institutions is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies
Development-oriented approach. Proven experience working with CSOs, networks, local initiatives, and communities . Ability to collect, organize, and analyze field data. Ability to work effectively in rural and community-based settings.

Reporting Structure
The position reports technically to the VITA Gamo and Gofa Zone Forest Program Coordinator and administratively to the VGIF Gofa Zone Coordination Head .
