About OHCHR: The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is the principal UN entity mandated to promote and protect human rights globally. The Regional Hub for East and Southern Africa, based in Addis Ababa, works to advance human rights, strengthen institutions, and support sustainable development across the region.
Position: Administrative Officer (NO‑C)
Responsibilities:
Human Resource Management: Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, performance appraisal, training, and staff well‑being in line with UN rules. Budget & Finance: Lead implementation of work programme budgets, ensure financial controls, and provide guidance on financial administration. General Administration: Oversee procurement, vendor contracts, billing, office space, technology needs, and operational travel programmes. Provide leadership and guidance to junior staff and ensure compliance with UN policies.

Qualifications:
Advanced university degree (Master’s) in business/public administration, finance, accounting, law, or related field. A first‑level degree plus 2 additional years of experience may be accepted. Minimum 5 years’ progressively responsible experience in administration, finance, HR, or related field. Required: Experience in HR advisory support and budget management. Desirable: Experience with UN Secretariat or similar international organizations; knowledge of Umoja or comparable ERP systems; data analytics experience. Language: Fluency in English required.
