Save Lives is a non‑governmental organization committed to supporting Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) , strengthening community‑based support systems, and promoting household economic empowerment through Self‑Help Group (SHG) interventions. The organization works closely with government offices, schools, health facilities, and community structures to ensure effective program delivery and child safeguarding.
Available Positions
1. Program Officer
Duty Station: Addis Ababa Career Level: Senior (5–8 years)
Responsibilities:
Lead planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of OVC and SHG programs. Develop and oversee work plans, budgets, and donor compliance. Strengthen community‑based child protection and referral systems. Supervise and mentor Community Development Workers, Caregivers, and SHG Facilitators. Conduct field supervision, organize training, and monitor program indicators. Prepare reports, success stories, and case studies. Ensure safeguarding and compliance with organizational policies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Community Development, Development Studies, or related fields. Minimum of 5 years’ NGO experience in OVC, child protection, livelihoods, or community development. Experience in SHG promotion and household economic strengthening preferred. Strong leadership, coordination, reporting, and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; willingness to travel frequently.
2. Community Social Worker
Duty Station: Addis Ababa Career Level: Junior (1–3 years)
Responsibilities:
Assess and identify needs of OVC households and prioritize interventions. Coordinate caregivers, volunteers, and stakeholders for project success. Record and document OVC progress (health, education, psychosocial status). Maintain OVC profiles and benefit records. Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports. Support SHG activities, community mobilization, and economic empowerment programs. Identify and support vulnerable women, including HIV‑positive and pregnant women. Ensure compliance with child safeguarding and protection standards.
Qualifications:
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Community Development, Psychology, Education, or related fields. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in OVC programming, child protection, or social work. Experience working with vulnerable children, families, and volunteers. Knowledge of case management and community mobilization approaches. Strong communication, facilitation, counseling, and documentation skills.
