Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is inviting qualified and motivated professionals to apply for the following positions.

Position 1: Project Management Intern

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Management, Project Management, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field from a recognized higher education institution.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in both English and Amharic.
  • Strong organizational and coordination abilities with the capacity to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated interest in project management, event coordination, communications, and international development.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to contribute to communication materials, social media content, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
  • High standards of integrity, professionalism, reliability, and accountability.
  • Strong self-awareness, empathy, conflict sensitivity, and respect for diversity.
  • Gender-sensitive and culturally competent with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Previous internship, volunteer experience, or employment in project management, administration, event coordination, or international organizations is an added advantage.

Position 2: Private Sector Development (PSD) Advisor

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Private Sector Development, or a related discipline.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in private sector development, particularly in MSME development, Business Development Services (BDS), and Access to Finance.
  • Experience working with business membership organizations or associations is highly desirable.
  • At least three years of project management experience, including contract preparation, Terms of Reference (ToR) development, proposal preparation, and coordination with implementation partners.
  • Strong understanding of Ethiopia's private sector landscape, particularly in the Afar Region, including financial services and business development markets.
  • Specialized expertise in one or more of the following areas is considered an advantage:
    • Business linkages
    • Business continuity management
    • Green economy
    • Investment planning and management
    • MSME financial inclusion
    • Digital transformation of businesses
  • Experience supporting women-led enterprises is an added advantage.
  • Previous experience with GIZ or other international development organizations is preferred.

Language Requirements

  • Excellent spoken and written proficiency in Afar, Amharic, and English.

Position 3: Advisor

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in Education Planning and Management, Vocational Education, Educational Administration, or a related field.

Professional Experience

  • At least five years of experience in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) management, supervision, administration, or human resource development.
  • Experience working with private sector institutions to support cooperative training programs is highly desirable.
