Position: Junior Irrigation Engineer
Job Purpose
The Junior Irrigation Engineer supports the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of irrigation systems to ensure efficient water distribution and optimal crop performance. The role combines technical engineering expertise with hands‑on system operation and field supervision.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Monitor irrigation and water distribution systems (pumps, motors, filters, canals). Conduct routine inspections of motors, pumps, and control panels. Regulate water levels in canals, reservoirs, and storage systems. Track pump system performance using tools such as ammeters and visual inspections. Ensure proper functioning of sand media and screen filters. Prepare fertilizer stock solutions and monitor fertigation operations. Implement preventive maintenance plans for pumps, pipelines, valves, and drip systems. Perform routine cleaning of canals, suction pools, and reservoirs. Identify malfunctions and coordinate repairs or replacements. Record and report operational data (water, electricity, diesel, fertilizer usage, downtime). Maintain irrigation schedules, system performance logs, and technical documents. Review designs, maps, survey reports, and technical drawings. Analyze environmental and site conditions (soil drainage, water flow, conservation). Supervise installation, repair, and maintenance works. Coordinate labor, materials, and equipment for irrigation activities. Ensure compliance with technical specifications, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
Education & Experience
Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Irrigation & Drainage Engineering, Water Resource Management Engineering, or related fields. Experience: 0 years (fresh graduates of 2025/2026 encouraged to apply).
