Role description

Kadisco Paint and Adhesive Industry S.C. previously known as Kadisco Chemical Industry PLC is a privately owned company located in Addis Ababa in the Akaki Kality Industrial Zone area. Kadisco is a company that traces its origins back from a small automotive parts dealership that was operating in one of the busy streets of Addis Ababa back in late 60’s.

Today the company produces a full range of paints for the construction, industrial and automotive sectors. It also produces wood and concrete lacquers as well as adhesives for the wood and leather industry.

Position: Production – Intern

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering
  • 0-1 year experience (Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply)
  • Strong communication skills in English is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare daily production schedules and machine-wise production plans based on sales order requirements.
  • Ensure monthly production targets and daily production outputs are achieved as per the approved plan.
  • Monitor and ensure timely delivery of made-to-order products according to committed delivery dates.
  • Allocate work to foremen and operators and supervise shop floor activities to achieve production objectives.
  • Assist the Production In-Charge in coordinating and monitoring routine production operations.
  • Participate in daily production planning meetings and support production-related decision-making.
  • Manage manpower allocation, machine utilization, plant capacity utilization, and trial batch scheduling.
  • Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures, key process controls, and required in-process quality checks during production.
  • Monitor raw material additions, consumption of old raw materials and finished goods, and maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Conduct quarterly stock-taking activities and maintain accurate production records and documentation.
  • Track and evaluate daily Tinterman performance and support continuous productivity improvement initiatives.
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives, Kaizen activities, QRI enhancement, RFT improvement, and raw material variance reduction.
  • Prepare and support SOP, FMEA, HIRA, ISO 14001, ISO 9001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 documentation and compliance activities.
  • Ensure implementation and effectiveness of CAPA (Corrective Action Preventive Action) arising from customer complaints and internal observations.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards, 5S practices, and operational discipline across the shop floor.
  • Enforce Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies, procedures, and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Ensure proper segregation and timely disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste in compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Conduct and support safety training programs, safety campaigns, and awareness initiatives to achieve organizational safety targets.
  • Generate and maintain incident reports, near-miss reports, proactive safety reports, and other EHS-related records.
  • Support the Safety and Production teams in achieving TRFR, TSR, and other health and safety objectives.
  • Coordinate with Sales Planning and other departments on production-related requirements and delivery commitments.
  • Provide hands-on operational support during critical production activities and peak workload periods to minimize bottlenecks.
  • Support employee supervision, shop floor management, data collection, record keeping, and reporting activities.
  • Ensure timely reporting of production performance and operational issues to the Production Manager.
  • Ensure TECO activities are completed as per defined frequency while maintaining required control variables and documentation.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor or management.
