About the Project
GIZ supports the Ethiopian Government in strengthening drought resilience and promoting sustainable natural resource management in the lowlands. The CDSDR III project works across Afar, Somali, Oromia, and central coordination components to improve environmental stability, institutional capacity, and community resilience. The Somali Region component, based in Jigjiga, focuses on natural resource management, watershed rehabilitation, livelihoods, gender‑responsive programming, and resilience building .
Position: Knowledge Management Intern
Responsibilities:
Support documentation of project achievements, lessons learned, and best practices. Assist in developing knowledge products (case studies, success stories, policy briefs). Manage digital and physical knowledge repositories. Provide support in monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) activities. Collect and analyze field data, prepare community profiles, and document project results. Contribute to communication and visibility efforts (reports, newsletters, social media). Assist in implementing feedback and response mechanisms. Provide general technical and operational support to the Somali regional team.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Communication, M&E, Political Science, Natural Resource Management, Gender, Public Administration, or related fields. Fresh graduate (graduation within the past 6 months). No prior work experience required; internship or volunteer experience in M&E, communication, or knowledge management is an asset.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong interest in M&E, knowledge management, communication, and gender equality. Good writing, editing, and organizational skills. Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, digital collaboration tools). Experience with Canva/Adobe or social media content creation is an advantage. Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and willingness to learn.
