About the Position
The Senior Software Engineer serves as a technical anchor and engineering lead across EthSwitch digital platforms, including the Central Billing Platform (CBS), interoperable merchant payment systems, merchant web portals, and related digital platforms .
The position is responsible for end-to-end software engineering, including application architecture, backend microservices, DevOps delivery pipelines, production reliability, security, incident response, technical documentation, and developer mentoring.
Core Responsibilities
1. Mobile & Web Application Engineering
Architect and maintain production-grade cross-platform applications using Flutter and Dart for Android, iOS, and smart POS terminals. Design and develop merchant administration portals and operations dashboards using Angular v15+, TypeScript, RxJS, and Angular Material . Work with modern web frameworks such as React, Vue, or Flutter Web . Optimize client-side rendering performance, frame rates, memory usage, offline caching, and state management across different devices and form factors. Implement native platform channels using Kotlin and Swift . Apply modular Clean Architecture and MVVM patterns.
2. Backend Microservices & Switch Integrations
Design and consume high-throughput RESTful APIs and switch connectors using Java and Spring Boot . Implement token-based authentication and authorization using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, Keycloak, and JWT with refresh-token rotation . Implement data persistence, local storage, and caching using PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, and SQLite . Develop solutions for network resilience, including offline fallbacks, exponential-backoff retries, and connectivity recovery.
3. DevOps, CI/CD & Production Infrastructure
Design and automate CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, and Jenkins . Configure and administer production Linux environments , including RHEL and Ubuntu. Manage systemd application daemons and Nginx reverse proxies , including SSL termination, rate limiting, and HTTP/2 optimization. Support containerization using Docker and container orchestration for supporting services. Manage mobile release engineering, including production keystores, ProGuard/R8 obfuscation, compile-time secret injection, and split-per-ABI packaging. Establish production observability through structured logging, health checks, crash reporting, and real-time alerts.
4. Production Operations & Switch Reliability
Serve as a Tier-3 engineering lead for high-severity payment-switch incidents, including payment dropouts, Hosted Payment Page timeouts, and gateway anomalies. Prepare technical Change Requests, risk assessments, and rollback procedures for Change Advisory Board review. Execute zero-downtime Blue/Green maintenance activities. Maintain cryptographic assets and processes, including SSL certificates, CA trust stores, keystores, and TLS certificate-pinning rotation schedules. Participate in Disaster Recovery failover drills, load-balancing tests, and automated backup validation. Investigate settlement exceptions, inter-bank discrepancies, pending transaction anomalies, and communication mismatches between switch engines and member-bank connectors. Support sandbox onboarding and technical integration for commercial banks, MFIs, and PSPs.
5. Security, INSA Compliance & Governance
Implement client-side security protections including encrypted storage, root/jailbreak detection, screen-overlay defenses, anti-tampering, and anti-repackaging controls. Remediate vulnerabilities identified through penetration testing, INSA audits, and automated security scanning. Work with tools such as MobSF, SonarQube, and OWASP ZAP . Enforce secure handling and segregation of credentials, API keys, and private infrastructure information.
6. Technical Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Lead code reviews and enforce SOLID principles and Clean Architecture standards. Organize and lead live end-of-sprint demonstrations and product milestone showcases. Collaborate with Product Owners, Department Managers, and member-bank integration teams. Mentor junior and mid-level developers through pair programming, structured code reviews, and technical workshops. Maintain engineering documentation, including Architectural Decision Records (ADRs), system workflow diagrams, deployment runbooks, and API specifications .
Qualifications and Experience
BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. 6/4 years of relevant work experience , with at least 2 years in professional positions .
