BNT established its sister Ranger Industry & Trading PLC established in May 2017 with a paid up capital of Birr 5 Million to engage in the Export of Ethiopian Arabica Coffee particularly, Specialty types from the highlands of Ethiopia to the World Coffee market.

Position: Jr. Coffee Cupper

Education

• B.Sc. Degree in Plant Science or related agricultural fields from recognized University.
• Q-Arabica Grader

Experience

• 3 years of relevant practical work experience & technical skills
• Good team management skills
• Good analytically strong problem solving
• Experience within a multi-national environment is highly beneficial
• Excellent communication skills & English language fluency
• Setting goals.

Purpose of the job

Jr. coffee cupper tastes both arrival & export coffee for quality evaluation. Issue coffee grade based on green grading and cupping.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare PSs & Marketing sample
• Prepare Marketing materials for coffee
• Handle quality department petty cash
• Take arrival sample to do analysis of green grading & cupping
• Data recording of (arrival sample, type sample, PSs & marketing samples)
• Data recording & Fellow up of the coffee production quality for each ICO numbers
• Communicate with staff on supply needs and create order list for quality department (Apron etc.)
• Maintain accurate records of every coffee received & evaluated
• Observe, measure and record needed aspects of the coffee (color, moisture content, green coffee odor, sample roasting details/observations
• Effectively sample roast to the established protocols for evaluation purposes.
• Consistently maintain a high level of hygiene whenever coffee handling or tasting is involved
• Set up cuppings (tasting) to standard in a routine
• Cup coffees, using agreed upon protocols and capturing results
• Clean up cupping; maintain complete cleanliness of cupping area, dishwasher, sink, grinder and sample preparation area
• Maintain the sample room to a logical, high level of organization and cleanliness & observing safety protocols
• Perform other related tasks as assigned by immediate manager.
• Manage communication with buyers and trade team
• Manage the communication of feedback to suppliers and internal team members on sensory evaluation of coffee samples
• prepare and distribute cupping report to the relevant team members and clients
• Manage the quality process during roasting and provide technical leadership to roasters and support their career development.
