Driver
Job Summary
The Driver will provide safe, reliable, and timely transportation services for UNDP staff, officials, and authorized personnel. The role also includes vehicle maintenance, documentation, logistical support, and compliance with UN safety and security procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Driving and Transportation Services
Provide safe and punctual transportation services for staff and authorized personnel. Apply defensive driving practices at all times. Check fuel, oil, water, and other essential vehicle conditions before travel. Keep the assigned vehicle clean and operational.
Vehicle Maintenance and Documentation
Conduct routine vehicle inspections, including brakes, tires, battery, oil, and water. Perform minor repairs and coordinate major maintenance when required. Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks and ensure daily documentation is completed and signed. Ensure all required vehicle documents and emergency supplies are available.
Operational and Administrative Support
Assist with workshops, meetings, guest transportation, and procurement-related activities. Deliver and collect official documents and messages. Support operational teams with local logistical tasks when requested.
Safety and Security Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with UN security procedures while transporting personnel and assets. Report accidents immediately to supervisors, UNDSS, and local authorities. Maintain vehicle insurance documents, first aid kits, communication equipment, and other required safety materials. Interact professionally with officials, visitors, and project stakeholders.
Educational Qualification
Applicants must have:
Secondary school (high school) certificate. Valid 3rd Grade Ethiopian driving license .
Work Experience
Applicants must have:
Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience .
Additional Qualifications Considered an Advantage
Diploma in Auto Mechanics or a related field. Defensive driving training or certification. Experience driving and maintaining 4WD vehicles. Computer literacy.
Language Requirements
Applicants must have:
Fluency in spoken and written English . Fluency in the national language .
