About the Role
The Political Affairs Officer will support the Personal Envoy of the Secretary‑General (PESG) for Sudan in advancing good offices and political engagement with Sudanese, regional, and international stakeholders. The role focuses on conflict prevention, mediation, and supporting political transition efforts, with a strong emphasis on ceasefire and security arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and implement operational activities related to political affairs, mediation, and conflict resolution. Provide technical expertise on inclusive security stabilization arrangements, ceasefires, and cessation of hostilities. Conduct research and analysis on political and security issues related to Sudan. Draft briefing notes, talking points, and reports for senior officials. Develop and maintain relations with government officials and stakeholders. Design and advise on conflict prevention and peace implementation initiatives. Support programme planning, budgeting, and inter‑agency coordination. Represent the office in roundtables, seminars, and conferences.
