We are a well-established Car Importing and Selling company based in Ethiopia, engaged in the importation and retail of vehicles. As part of our continued growth and commitment to operational excellence, we are seeking competent and experienced professionals to join our team.
Position: Senior Accountant
Job Summary
We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Accountant to oversee our financial operations, with specific expertise in import and retail business accounting, Ethiopian tax compliance, and modern accounting software.
Key Responsibilities
Manage full-cycle accounting operations for import and retail business activities
Ensure full compliance with the
Ethiopian Tax Code
(VAT, withholding tax, income tax, and other statutory obligations)
Prepare and file accurate tax returns and financial reports in accordance with Ethiopian revenue regulations
Maintain and reconcile general ledgers, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory records
Process import-related financial documentation (customs duties, freight, letters of credit, etc.)
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports
Monitor cash flow, budgeting, and financial forecasting
Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies as required
Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all financial transactions
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's or professional certification such as ACCA/CPA is a plus)
Minimum 5–7 years of proven experience
in accounting, specifically within
import and retail business environments
In-depth knowledge and practical experience with the Ethiopian Tax Code
Hands-on experience with Peachtree (Sage 50) Accounting Software
is mandatory
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
(Excel, Word, Outlook)
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and high level of integrity
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
Fluent in English and Amharic (both written and spoken
