The Ethiopian Women with Disability National Association (EWDNA)
is a local, non-profit, non-governmental organization based in Addis Ababa, with 12 branches across various regions of Ethiopia. Established in September 2002 through the initiative and dedication of seven women with disabilities and one non-disabled woman, EWDNA works to empower and support women and girls with disabilities, including those with visual, hearing, physical, and intellectual disabilities, as well as women affected by leprosy. The association currently has more than 12,590 members nationwide and is committed to promoting the rights, inclusion, and socio-economic empowerment of women and girls with disabilities throughout the country.
EWDNA is currently implementing the project “
Promoting Inclusive Political Participation and Leadership of Women with Disabilities in Ethiopia
,” which aims to enhance the inclusion, participation, and empowerment of women with disabilities in political processes, leadership positions, and public life. The project achieves this through capacity-building initiatives, support for evidence-based policymaking, public awareness campaigns, and advocacy efforts. To ensure effective implementation, EWDNA is seeking a Project Officer to coordinate day-to-day project activities and serve as the key link between the project sites and the head office.
The specific responsibilities and required qualifications for this role are outlined below.
Responsibilities
Ensure the effective implementation of project activities according to the approved action plan and prepare quarterly and annual reports in line with donor requirements.
Work collaboratively with political parties to enhance the political participation of women with disabilities.
Maintain close communication with stakeholder, relevant actors, regional political parties, Regional Joint Councils, branch offices of the National Election Board of Ethiopia, regional media outlets, key community representatives, and relevant regional offices.
Maintain up-to-date data related to project activities within the area of responsibility and ensure its analysis and interpretation to improve project implementation.
Conduct monitoring visits and prepare observation reports.
Collaborate with local-level actors, regional offices of the National Election Board of Ethiopia, local organizations, community-based organizations, and various political parties.
Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly progress reports to the Project Coordinator.

Required knowledge skill and experience
Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and multitasking skills, with a solid understanding of local context and community values.
Excellent organizational, technical, and detail-oriented abilities, ensuring high-quality and efficient work.
Strong critical thinking, creativity, and analytical skills for effective problem-solving and decision-making
Education and Work Experience
Bachelors /MA Degree required, in political science, project management, Economics, Sociology and other social science fields
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in social inclusion, disability programs, inclusion project, or women and disability right or any related.
Experience working with community-based organizations and vulnerable populations is desirable.
