Job Description
The American Chamber of Commerce in Ethiopia (AmCham Ethiopia), in partnership with RTI under the USDA Food for Progress Ethiopia SunGold Project, is seeking a qualified Policy Advisor to strengthen policy and advocacy efforts aimed at improving Ethiopia’s agribusiness and trade policy environment.
The role will focus on improving the enabling environment for agribusiness, particularly within the sunflower value chain, by addressing regulatory barriers, advancing public-private dialogue, and supporting increased trade and investment between Ethiopia and the United States.
Key Responsibilities
Support the design and implementation of Agribusiness Committee policy and advocacy strategies.
Identify regulatory and policy constraints affecting agribusiness, including seeds, mechanization, and trade barriers.
Develop policy briefs, position papers, and recommendations.
Engage government institutions and stakeholders to advance policy dialogue.
Coordinate Agribusiness Committee activities, including agendas and stakeholder follow-up.
Organize public-private dialogue platforms and stakeholder engagements.
Conduct market and policy analysis related to Ethiopia’s agribusiness sector.
Support donor reporting and implementation of project work plans.
Monitor progress on policy initiatives and ensure alignment with project objectives.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Economics, Law, Public Policy, Agriculture, Business, or related field.
5–8 years of relevant experience in policy, advocacy, research, or public-private engagement.
Strong understanding of Ethiopia’s policy and regulatory environment, particularly in agriculture or trade.
Experience working with government institutions, development partners, and private sector stakeholders.
Strong analytical, research, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to work independently and manage high-level relationships.
