ABOUT WASHINGTON HEALTHCARE

The Pediatrician will provide comprehensive medical care for infants, children, and adolescents, from birth through age 18. This includes preventative health, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, and developmental monitoring, ensuring compassionate care tailored to the needs of Ethiopian children.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical Duties:
Conduct regular well-child check-ups, including growth and developmental assessments, immunizations, and health screenings.
Diagnose and treat a wide range of pediatric illnesses, from common childhood infections to chronic conditions.
Provide expert advice on nutrition, safety, and healthy lifestyle practices for children.
Manage pediatric emergencies and provide acute care as needed.
Collaborate with parents/guardians to develop individualized care plans.
Refer patients to pediatric subspecialists when necessary.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain thorough and accurate medical records for all pediatric patients.
Participate in child health initiatives and quality improvement projects within the hospital.
Adhere to national child health guidelines and vaccination schedules.
Educational Duties:
Educate patients and caregivers on child health, disease prevention, and treatment adherence.
Mentor junior medical staff and nursing students rotating through pediatrics.
Continuously update knowledge on pediatric advancements and best practices.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Medical Doctor (MD) degree from a recognized institution
Specialization in Pediatrics
Valid professional license by the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA) or equivalent regulatory body in Ethiopia
Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable post-specialization experience in pediatric practice.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
:
Compassionate approach to child healthcare and strong communication skills with children and families.
Knowledge of common pediatric diseases prevalent in Ethiopia
Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork
Ability to work under pressure
Good time management and organizational skills
