In Ethiopia, One Acre Fund focuses on agroforestry and seed multiplication, helping farmers plant over 30 million trees, produce 1,500+ metric tonnes of improved teff seed, and improve the livelihoods of nearly 200,000 community members. The Ethiopia team includes 180+ permanent staff and nearly 1,000 seasonal rural staff, with headquarters in Addis Ababa and a major program office in Bahir Dar.
Role Overview
The Agroforestry Training Senior Officer will lead technical content creation, revision, and delivery for field teams, stakeholders, and tree nursery operators, driving reforestation impact across the South Tree Program.
Key Responsibilities
Organize and lead training components for the South Tree Program. Revise training manuals annually (including new species and updated recommendations). Conduct data quality checks for training materials. Lead technical TOT sessions for field teams. Ensure training cascades effectively to nursery operators, improving production and survival rates. Support professional development training plans and field team acceleration programs. Execute small‑medium training projects (needs assessments, knowledge retention, compliance checks). Support seed quality checks, marketing, distribution, and local seed procurement. Lead small SBC projects to provide program insights.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years’ professional experience (training and agroforestry preferred). Languages: Wolayta, Amharic, and English required. Strong communication and facilitation skills. Ability to manage projects and deliver training effectively.
