Role description

Global One Health connects Ohio State to Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Brazil, Thailand, China, India and beyond in a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to improve health, build capacity, and provide learning opportunities for students across the globe.

Ohio State Global One Health, LLC (Ohio State GOH, LLC) is an affiliated entity of The Ohio State University working on a range of Global Health Security related projects targeting rapid response to public health emergencies through building laboratory, surveillance, and one health workforce capacity strengthening through applied education, training, and research throughout Ethiopia.

Ohio State Global One Health works with the Federal Ministry of Health, Ethiopian Public Health Institute, Regional Health Bureaus, Universities and other research institutions.

Position 1: Accountant

Required Educational Background and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, and a related field from a recognized institution.
  • At least four years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, and administrative operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in transaction processing, financial recordkeeping, reconciliations, and compliance-related activities.
  • Experience working with donor-funded projects, international organizations, NGOs, or research institutions is an advantage.

Position 2: Field Epidemiologist

Qualifications and Experience Education
  • Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Veterinary Epidemiology, Biostatistics, One Health, or a related field from a recognized academic institution.
  • Training in Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) at the Intermediate or Advanced level is highly desirable and considered an asset.
  • Additional training or certification in disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, public health emergency management, health information systems, or data analysis
  • Demonstrated knowledge of epidemiological methods, public health surveillance.
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, or public health emergency response or related public health programs
  • Demonstrated experience working with national public health surveillance systems, including data collection, reporting, monitoring, and coordination with relevant

Position 3: Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Officer

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing, Public Health, Medicine, Environmental Health, or related field.
  • Formal training in Infection Prevention and Control is preferred.
  • Specialized training in outbreak management, or infectious disease control preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of direct experience in IPC, healthcare quality improvement, or public health programs.
  • Proven experience in training healthcare workers and developing IPC materials
  • Experience working in healthcare facilities or public health institutions.
  • Experience in participating in recent public health emergencies preparedness and response efforts.

Position 4: Medical Laboratory technologist

Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory technology, Laboratory Sciences, or related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years and up to 10 years of relevant experience in diagnostic or public health laboratories.
  • Experience in laboratory quality management systems is desirable
  • Experience in infectious disease testing and surveillance programs is an advantage
