IFRC hosts the Risk‑informed Early Action Partnership (REAP) Secretariat , a global platform launched at the UN Climate Action Summit in 2019. REAP brings together 110 partners to advance early warning, anticipatory action, and climate resilience.
Job Purpose
The Officer, Communications and Social Media (50%) will ensure REAP’s processes, knowledge, and impact are shared effectively with the right audiences. The role strengthens visibility, narrative coherence, and public engagement, translating complex knowledge and policy discussions into compelling communication outputs that inspire action and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Communication
Plan and implement REAP communications aligned with the REAP 2030 Strategy Coordinate inputs across the Secretariat to ensure coherent messaging Support high‑level communication around board meetings, policy dialogues, and global events Translate complex insights into accessible narratives that influence policy
Social Media & Digital Presence
Manage the full social media lifecycle: conceptualize, write, design, and publish content Implement REAP’s social media strategy to strengthen visibility and engagement Maintain a consistent digital voice and visual identity Amplify campaigns and announcements with partners Monitor performance and refine strategies for impact
Content Production
Produce communication outputs: blogs, newsletters, web content, short‑form videos, and visuals Showcase collective progress and impact through storytelling Transform evidence and insights into accessible communication products Ensure clarity, consistency, and quality across all channels
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field (required) Post‑graduate degree in Communications (preferred)
Experience
Minimum 3 years’ experience in communications and social media management Proven track record in content creation, engagement, and monitoring Ability to translate knowledge into accessible communication products Experience in multicultural and dispersed team environments
Skills
Proficiency in communication tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.) Social media channel management and content production Basic graphic design and video editing (CapCut, Premiere Pro, etc.) Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills Ability to work independently, under pressure, and with integrity
Languages
Fluent in English (required) Knowledge of French, Spanish, or Arabic (preferred)
