Overview:
Empowerment for Development (ED) is a national NGO committed to promote and improve the lives of vulnerable communities including women, children, IDPs and migrants through its multiple thematic areas such as Livelihoods and Economic Empowerment, Humanitarian Emergency and Climate Change, Education and Youth Development, Community Health and Protection of Vulnerable Populations, Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion. ED envisions a future where women, children, and marginalized communities, including Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), migrants and refugees have equitable access to essential services and opportunities for empowerment.
We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Health Officer. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the implementation of health programs aimed at improving primary healthcare access and outcomes in the designated areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the planning and execution of community health interventions and campaigns.
Monitor and supervise health activities at community and facility levels, ensuring quality service delivery.
Support the collection and management of health data for reporting and analysis.
Facilitate training and awareness sessions on public health issues, disease prevention, and hygiene promotion.
Liaise with local health authorities and partners to ensure coordination of services.
Prepare detailed and accurate reports on health program activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Health Science, or a related field.
Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
Passion for the mission of the organization and commitment to making a positive impact in the community.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of public health principles, disease prevention, and health promotion.
Familiarity with basic data collection methods for health metrics and reporting.
Ability to conduct community-level health assessments and screenings.
Strong interpersonal skills for facilitating community training and awareness sessions.
Commitment to ethical practice and confidentiality in health service delivery
Proficient in MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, AI applications
Language
English fluency (written and verbal) is required.
Knowledge of Afar af is an added value
