About the Role
AeTrade Group is seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Head of Sokokuu Marketplace to lead the strategy, commercial growth, operations, and development impact of Sokokuu Marketplace. Sokokuu is a full-fledged digital marketplace designed to connect sellers, buyers, MSMEs, cooperatives, producers, manufacturers, exporters, service providers, financial institutions, logistics actors, and institutional customers across local, regional, continental, and international markets.
The Head of Sokokuu Marketplace will lead both the Commercial Track and Development Track of the unit. This includes marketplace revenue growth, vendor and buyer acquisition, product category development, digital payments, logistics coordination, MSME onboarding, enterprise readiness, youth and women participation, and inclusive market access.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the overall Sokokuu Marketplace strategy, operating model, and growth plan.
Build Sokokuu as a competitive marketplace that generates transactions, revenue, and market opportunities.
Oversee vendor acquisition, buyer activation, product category development, marketplace operations, and customer growth.
Ensure strong integration with AeTrust, AeLearning, logistics partners, digital marketing, and data systems.
Develop partnerships with public institutions, financial institutions, development partners, private sector actors, buyers, cooperatives, and trade associations.
Supervise the Sokokuu Marketplace Unit team and ensure strong performance, coordination, and reporting.
Track both commercial performance and development impact.
Required Profile
Bachelor’s degree in business, digital commerce, marketing, economics, international trade, information systems, entrepreneurship, or a related field.
Master’s degree is an advantage.
Minimum of 8–10 years of relevant experience in marketplace operations, ecommerce, digital platforms, commercial growth, MSME development, fintech, or trade facilitation.
Strong leadership, commercial thinking, partnership management, and execution skills
