Role description
Ethiopost is Ethiopia’s principal postal service provider, with over 600 branches across the country. Ethiopost’s new vision is to be a global leader in postal services and a preferred partner in logistics, financial and government services.
Ethiopost is a state-owned enterprise (SOE) tasked with the establishment and expansion of postal services in the country. It is the designated postal operator (DPO) that provides postal services throughout the Ethiopian territory in order to fulfill the government’s universal service obligation (USO).
Position: Senior Legal Officer
Qualification:
- LLB Degree with 2 years of experience.
Responsibilities:
- Offer legal guidance and support to management, executives, and other departments within the organization on various legal matters, including contracts, regulatory compliance, labor laws, intellectual property, and business operations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements with external parties, ensuring that they comply with relevant laws and regulations and protect the organization’s interests.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting the organization and ensure compliance with all applicable legal requirements.
- Identify legal risks and provide strategies to mitigate potential legal liabilities.
- Assist in developing and updating internal policies and procedures to align with legal requirements and best practices.
- Protect the organization’s intellectual property rights, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
- Advise on matters related to corporate governance, shareholder rights, and board meetings.
- Guide on employment-related issues, including labor laws, employee contracts, and workplace policies.
- Conduct legal research and due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, or other business transactions.
- Also performs related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
