Lead Procurement Engineer
Position Overview
The Lead Procurement Engineer oversees the procurement of technical materials, goods, works, and services to ensure effective and efficient support for EEC Construction projects. This role involves managing procurement processes, supplier performance evaluations, compliance with company procedures, and providing commercial advice to project teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead procurement duties for nominated purchase packages (pre‑qualification, ATT, ITT, tender evaluation, award, monitoring supplier performance, invoice verification, claims resolution, and close‑out) Compile technical assessment reports on suppliers/subcontractors and market studies Ensure compliance with procurement procedures and maintain necessary documentation Report progress of procurement schedules to the Procurement Manager Represent Procurement Manager in client and management meetings Identify and negotiate with suppliers, monitor timely delivery, and expedite orders Support emergency procurement needs and maintain accountability of equipment Provide commercial advice to requisitioning departments and project managers Ensure ethical behavior, compliance, and safety standards are upheld
Job Requirements
Education: BSc in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Purchasing & Supplies, or related fields Experience: Minimum 6 years in procurement within construction firms or affiliated organizations commissioning complex projects Skills & Competencies: Experience with procurement for medium to large‑scale construction projects Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (mandatory) International or NGO experience in Ethiopia is an advantage Strong negotiation, strategic thinking, and relationship management skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) High integrity, authenticity, and time management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
