Role description

Ethiopian Broadcasting Service, commonly referred to as EBS TV, represents a privately owned satellite television network operating in Ethiopia. Since its establishment in 2008, the organization has maintained operational centers in Ethiopia alongside international bureaus, including a principal office situated in Silver Springs, Maryland, within the United States. The channel predominantly delivers programming content in the Amharic language. EBS TV holds the distinction of being the inaugural private television channel to commence operations within Ethiopia.

Position: TV Host

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Broadcasting, Media Studies, language and literature or a related field.
  • More than 5 years of professional experience in journalism, communication, broadcasting, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated on-air or public presentation experience, with a portfolio or reel of previous work preferred.
  • Familiarity with newsroom operations, broadcast equipment, and production workflows.
  • Working knowledge of media law, ethics, and broadcasting standards.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as broadcast schedules require.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Host live and recorded television programs, including news bulletins, magazine shows, and special broadcasts.
  • Research, prepare, and review scripts, show rundowns, and interview questions ahead of broadcasts.
  • Conduct interviews with guests, experts, officials, and members of the public in a clear, professional, and engaging manner.
  • Deliver news, commentary, and presentations in a manner that is accurate, unbiased, and appropriate to the audience.
  • Collaborate with producers, directors, camera crews, and editorial teams to plan and execute segments and full broadcasts.
  • Adapt on the fly to breaking news, schedule changes, technical issues, and last-minute script revisions.
  • Represent EBS Television at public events, press briefings, and promotional activities as required.
