About YNSD and the CSPW Program
Youth Network for Sustainable Development (YNSD) is a non-governmental, non-profit making indigenous organization which was founded in 2003 by four school clubs and fifteen youth associations. Currently, YNSD is an umbrella Network for more than 1000 youth organizations/associations at national level.
Its mission is to contribute for the sustainable development through promoting partnerships, networking, and building the capacity of its member organizations while its vision is to see Ethiopian youth holistically empowered and meaningfully engaged in the country’s all-rounded and sustainable development.
It has been implementing programs and projects including youth and women empowerment, Sexual & Reproductive Health (SRH) & HIV/AIDS, Information & Communication Technology, environment sustainability, advocacy, WASH and new emerging issues.
Currently it is running a five-year program (2023 - 2027) implemented in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation and JHU-CCP. The program is running in six regions, 14+ zones, 150+ woredas, and 1800+ kebeles of the country. Where YNSD covers 60% of the target.
The program, as referred to as Community Service as a pathway to Work (CSPW) is primarily aimed at engaging the youth in community services on voluntary basis and help them acquire skills to be employed/create self-employment opportunities in dignified and fulfilling work reaching 500K Youth (70% women) and 10% vulnerable Groups in community services and expected to support 200K youth (18-35 years of age) transition to work.
Job Summary
The Cashier is responsible for managing petty cash transactions, processing payments and reimbursements, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with YNSD financial policies and procedures. The position supports the efficient management of financial documentation, reporting, and coordination with the Central Office to ensure accountability and transparency in financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain the petty cash fund in accordance with YNSD financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Process petty cash payments and reimbursements based on duly approved payment requests and supporting documents.
Verify that all payment requests are properly authorized and supported by the required documentation before and after processing payments.
Ensure the correct financial forms, vouchers, and supporting documents are completed and filed before and after each payment transaction.
Maintain accurate petty cash records, registers, and payment logs, ensuring all transactions are properly documented and reconciled.
Compile, organize, and submit financial supporting documents to the Central Office in a timely manner.
Collect Terms of Reference (TORs) and other relevant project documents and forward them to the Central Office as required.
Facilitate the timely settlement of advances and ensure supporting documents are complete and compliant with organizational procedures.
Prepare and submit periodic financial and petty cash reports to the Central Office and immediate supervisor.
Ensure proper filing and safeguarding of financial records and documents.
Support the Finance Department in routine financial and administrative activities.
Perform any other finance and administrative duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Diploma in Accounting and Finance and other related fields.
Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in cashiering, accounting, finance, or a related role.
Experience working with NGOs or development organizations is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies
· Basic knowledge of accounting and financial management principles.
· Strong numerical and record-keeping skills.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
· High level of integrity, accountability, and confidentiality.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Good communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
