Position: General Manager – Ethiopia
The General Manager will lead Bitdeer’s market entry and full operational setup in Ethiopia, overseeing datacenter development, government relations, business growth, and long‑term strategic execution. This is a senior leadership role requiring strong technical, operational, and business acumen.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Execution
Develop and implement medium‑ and long‑term strategies for Bitdeer’s Ethiopia operations. Analyze market trends and competitive dynamics to guide business decisions. Ensure technological leadership and effective market positioning.
Business Development & Market Growth
Build and maintain strong client relationships to drive customer satisfaction and renewals. Develop partnerships with cloud providers, enterprise clients, and government institutions. Identify and secure new business opportunities.
Government Relations & Compliance
Establish and maintain relationships with government officials and regulatory bodies. Secure permits, licenses, and ensure full compliance with Ethiopian regulations. Represent Bitdeer in government meetings, negotiations, and public engagements.
Data Center Project Oversight
Oversee feasibility studies, planning, design, construction, and commissioning of datacenters. Ensure compliance with global standards (Uptime Tier, ISO, PUE optimization). Supervise operations and maintenance to ensure efficiency, reliability, and security.
Financial & Operational Management
Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and revenue projections. Optimize resource allocation and ensure strong ROI for capital‑intensive projects. Implement quality assurance processes and operational best practices.
Team Leadership & Culture Building
Build and lead a high‑performing management team. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and operational excellence.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, or related field. 8–10 years of management experience in datacenters, cloud computing, IT infrastructure, or related industries. Minimum 5 years in senior leadership roles (GM, Operations Director, Project Director). Strong experience managing full lifecycle datacenter projects. Deep understanding of datacenter technologies (power systems, cooling, network architecture). Strong financial management and ROI‑driven decision‑making skills.
Preferred
MBA or equivalent management background. Experience in emerging markets, especially Africa. Knowledge of cloud, hybrid IT, storage, and edge computing. Background in cryptocurrency or mining operations. Existing relationships with Ethiopian government stakeholders.
